TV Viewing Distance Guidelines
The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) recommends that a TV screen should fill about 30 degrees of your field of vision for a comfortable viewing experience. In practical terms, this means sitting about 1.5 to 2.5 times the diagonal screen size away from the TV. A 65-inch TV, for example, works best at a viewing distance of 8 to 13.5 feet.
